AN EVENT FOR KIDS AT ALL INDIA RADIO THIRVANANTAPURAM

From fun to fanfare, singing to caricaturing—the summer vacation camp “Chaithra Madurima” organised by the Akashvani Recreation Club, AIR,Thiruvananthapuram was immemorable to the kids. May 20th and 21st
Akashvani premises turned out to be a school campus with children singing, acting and improvising themselves by completely relieved from the saddle of homework and text books. While inaugurating the camp, Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Deputy Director General, Akashvani voyaged through the enchanting reminiscences of his childhood and elucidated the children what they are missing in the present nutty days of busy life.The meeting was presided over by Shri N S Sail Kumar Director Engineering. The camp was blessed with the presence of renowned artists and multitalented celebrities from different walks of life. Mr
Jayachandran Kadampanad, folklorist with the savour and aroma of folk life amused the children for one hour in the morning session on Monday 20th May. Boisterous traffic and crazy driving is the in thing of
present day life, children are always victims to road accidents. Mr.Adarsh Kumar, Motor Vehicle Inspector demonstrated how to use the road and enlightened the kids on various aspects of traffic regulations. A
participant from the camp turned out to be a resource person. Kum.Keerthi Sharma who is a child prodigy presented before the kids the amazing world of acting and singing. She narrated the various aspects
of raga and bhava in acting. Kum. Anju P Arjunan Transmission Executive, AIR Thiruvananthapuram came up with “Nalla Pattukal” –good songs. She took the children to the exquisite history of melodies. The
classes by psychologist Shri George Behnan and the language class by Dr. B V Sasikumar gave the kids in-depth information about language and learning process. Calicut University “Kalathilakam” Veena S Nair
demonstrsted the ‘Navarasa’ to the children which was a rare experience. Inaugurating the closing session, Smt Sugathakumari renowned “Saraswathi “ samman poetess expressed apprehension over the
increasing incidents of child abuse. She said that childhood is not safe in homes and the peril of globalisation is tiptoeing in to every phase of our day to day life which will end up in devastation.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN......This blog has opened minds,locked imaginations,frozen faces,shrugged existences and suppressed expressions of 'prasrabharati family'...see now bloging 'disease' has spread across country and world is noticing us with all seriousness otherwise some had written us off since...things would happen everywhere but JANGAL MEIN MOR NAACHA KIS NE DEKHE.....but now MOR is seen dancing by all in and out side the country.It is also heartening to know that CEO,MP,MF and DG(AIR/DD) are visiting it regularly,this will help them as well in keeping them updated of the activities across the country....thanks parivar,thanks Kerala coz this could be my last dispatch from Thirvanatapuram as am moving to DG AIR on posting.....rafeeqmasoodi2Tvpm
