Condoling Ms Jai Chandiram demise

CEO, Member(F) join PB Parivar in condoling the death of  Ms Jai Chandiram, former Deputy Director General of Doordarshan, who expired yesterday after a brave battle with cancer
Shri BB Pandit, Member (F), Prasar Bharati has sent his condolence message to PB Parivar blog. My heartfelt condolence to the family of Mrs Chandiram and all her colleagues and friends. Though I did not know her personally, I am aware how highly she was regarded in the Broadcasting field. It is professionals like her who through their selfless service, dedication and sincere adherence to high standards of their professionalism raise the bar of excellence, bring credit to her community and build institutions. Today Prasar Bharti needs more people like her and she will, indeed, be missed for years to come. RIP Ms Chandiram. Pandit bb
Earlier, Shri Jawhar Sircar, CEO Prasar Bharati in his condolence message sent to PB Parivar blog had described Ms Chandiram, a long time personal friend , not merely as ex DDG Programme of AIR & DD, but more iconic among creative people & media than we can ever be. She had the honesty, sincerity and positive attitude that made akashvani and Doordarshan popular among the masses. He remembered visiting her house last week and on 11.05.2013 at cremation at Lodhi Road.

  1. Jai Chandiram who passed away this morning after battling cancer, was one of the pioneers of television in India. She also trained many of today’s professionals. THE HOOT is reproducing a piece on television’s early years which she wrote for the Hoot in 2009 http://thehoot.org/web/home/story.php?storyid=6785&pg=1&mod=1&sectionId=14&sectionname=Radio/TV/Film

  3. My heartfelt condolences. I fondly remember the day I met her during the ABU GA in 2011. When my friend introduced me to her saying that he is the winner of this year's ABU Prize she congratulated me and talked with me about the documentary in detail. Her interest really surprised me. She was a true professional and indeed a role model for all of us.
