VIDUSHI ANJANIBAI MALPEKAR
Eminent Indian classical music vocalist was born in 1883 in malpe pernem in Goa.she started taking training at the age of 8. The distinctive features of Anjanibai's music were resonant voice projection with extra ordinary breath control.A forceful taans and effective presentation of 'raag' Along with music Anjanibai was a rare blend of loveliness,vivacity,pose dignity and intelligence.. In-spite of all her accomplishments she remained very humble and simple. She was spiritually en-lighted by her spiritual guru due to which her attitude towards life style started changing and as a result she gave up performing in public.
She gave valuable guidance to Pt.Kumar gandharva,vidushi kishori Amonkar and Pt T.D.Janorikar etc etc which helped them to gain popularity in Indian classical vocal music.Eminent light classical singers Begam akhtar and Naina devi have also learned nuances of thumri-dadra rendition. She was very much respected by all the senior musicians like Vishnu Digambar Paluskar ,Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan,Pt.Ramkrishnabuva Vaze etc.
As an acknowledgement of her service to the music field she was appointed as the fellow of Sangeet Natak Academy. A glorious era of Indian music came to an end with her passing away in 1974.

Akashvani and Doordarshan have a special significance as the grand old National Public Service Broadcasters and both of them have very rich and glorious history. Almost every renowned singer, celebrated dancer and distinguished and eminent writer have been associated with Akashvani, especially in the 1940s-70s and beyond. Many of them were associated with Doordarshan as well. Doordarshan has also contributed to the blossoming of many Film Directors, Artists, and Producers.
