Rain water harvesting & plantation at National Channel AIR Delhi

National Channel AIR Todapur has done an unique work of rain harvesting and plantation Cum horticulture work at its premises .For this a storage tank of 45000 liters capacity was constructed. Rain water is initially collected in this tank and after some time this is shifted to a bigger tank of 1.5 lac liters capacity.During the very first month of monsoon the bigger tank is filled to its capacity. The water thus collected is of purest form as it's T.D.S is only 100. Moreover ,if go by the prevailing market rate, the entire cost of the system is made good in the fist month itself. The excess water is being used to recharge the old bore in ground to replenish it.The entire system has become self sustainable which has solved the perennial water shortage of water at this station .Encouraged by the success of the system, the station has undertaken green drive and the entire campus is full of aromatic, decorative and herbal plants which is evident from the enclosed pictures.

  1. Ground water T.D S at the spot is more than 4000.We are recharging the same with 100 or less. With this, ground water quality is also likely to improve drastically. We will let you know it after rainy season is over at the end of September 2016.prm een a, DE

  2. For rain water harvesting ,Delhi government offers a rebate of 10 percent on the water bills. As such it is win win situation from all aspects.
