Mangaluru - AIR special series Banuli Gramayana gets underway from December 30
All India Radio, Mangaluru will broadcast a special series 'Banuli Gramayana' starting December 30. This series will be broadcast on the last Wednesday of each month for an hour starting 8.30am. The first program will focus and centre around Mandekolu village in Sullia taluk. The village is also famous in that it is the village that former Chief Minister and present union law minister D V Sadananda Gowda hails from.
All India Radio through this series will focus on the development that has been envisioned for the selected villages that have earned a reputation of being an underdeveloped village in the past. The series will chronicle the steps taken by such backward villages and their journey towards becoming a developed village, noted Sadananda Perla, program executive, AIR, who has taken the lead in conceptualization and producing the program.
The program will focus on the local cultural as well as the socio-historical and traditional history of the place. The AIR production team as part of the effort will camp in the selected village for an entire day, talk to achievers and those responsible for its development and progress, be it artists, heads of government and line departments, and villagers, getting their reaction on tape. This will also serve as a development record for future.
The opening program will speak about development of Mandekolu, a tiny village on the Karnataka-Kerala border and dwell on its journey towards becoming a crime and liquor free village. It includes sound bites given by Sadananda Gowda, Suresh Kanamaradka, D C Balachandra, Suvarna Shibaroor, PSI Chandrashekar, representatives of SKDRDP, Jagruthi Balaga, youth organizations and other stakeholders as well, Sadananda Perla said.
