Widely appreciated as a top class broadcaster, Shri Sayed began his noteworthy career in 1976 as a young Transmission Executive at AIR Jalgaon, Maharashtra. In a career spanning almost three and half decades, he served at Jalgaon, Panaji, Nashik, Beed, Mumbai and Ahmednagar.A voracious reader, Shri Sayed also had avid interest in the fields of music, drama, cinema and other art forms. With an easy going and lively personality he had huge network of friends and well wishers in all the stratas of life.

He was especially known for discovering and grooming raw talent in the field of poetry and literature. Many of such hitherto unknown faces have now won accolades in their art, and are household names.Shri Liyakat Ali Sayed produced innumerable memorable radio programmes during the course of his career. Being a wonderful interviewer, he had uncanny knack of putting the interviewee totally at ease and getting the best out.

The pinnacle of his illustrious broadcasting career came with an epic serial ‘Baromaas’, dramatised serial reading of the novel written by Sahitya Akademy Award Winning author Sadanand Deshmukh.
